Omnia Band Betrachtung

Einleitung

Omnia ist nun keine Band die man typischerweise hört wenn man auf Metal steht. Dennoch gehört Omnia seit vielen vielen Jahren zu den Bands die ich immer wieder gerne höre. Die Mischung aus fröhlicher un ruhigerer Musik ist für mich einfach ein perfekter Kontrast zum sonst eher harten und aggressiven Metal :)

Omnia ist damit für mich eine Band die ich gerne zum Relaxen und „Träumen“ aber auch als Hintergrundmusik im Alltag gerne höre. Es gibt natürlich auch Titel mit mehr Action, aber mal ehrlich, im Vergleich mit Heaven Shall Burn ist das dann immer noch relaxt – ich hoff ihr versteht worauf ich hinaus möchte ;)

Bandgeschichte

Unglaublich aber wahr, Omnia gibt es nun schon seit 1996 – okay so wie ich die Band kennen gelernt habe und ich sie euch nun auch vorstellen werde, besteht sie erst seit 2002 Davor hatte man sich darauf spezialisiert alte keltische / römische Musik zu machen und hat diese in Museen gespielt, sich das heutige Omnia in einem Museum vorzustellen fällt einem nicht ganz so leicht – aber wer weiß…

2004 wurde mit Crone of War das 1. Album veröffentlicht welches ich auch kenne und welches dem aktuell praktizierten „Pagan-Folk“ entspricht.

Musik

Omnia hat bis 2015 insgesamt 9 Alben herausgebracht, zudem Live Alben, Singles und BestOffs.

Crone of War

2004 Wurde mit Crone of War das 1. „richtige“ Omnia Album veröffentlicht. Was soll ich sagen, Lieder wie Fídhe Ra Hurí sind einfach unglaublich schön, hört es euch am besten selber an!

Diese CD gibt es leider nicht mehr zu kaufen, aber Omnia bieten auf ihrer Webseite 2 der Songs zum kostenlosen Download an!

PaganFolk

2006 ging es mit PaganFolk weiter. Der Name des Albums ist Programm und es sind wieder eine Vielzahl toller Stücke darauf zu finden.

Hier finde ich An Dro ein wirklich tolles Lied welches für mich den praktizierten PaganFolk toll wiederspiegelt.

Alive!

2007 kam Alive! auf den Markt – mein bis heute absolutes Lieblingsalbum von Omnia. Es kombiniert für mich einfach viele Aspekte der Band. Von lustigen Texten (Wytches‘ Brew) bis zu sehr schönen ruhigen Stücken (The Raven) und eben einer fetten Portion PaganFolk!

Mein absolutes Lieblingslied auf diesem Album ist bis heute auch mein generelles Lieblingslied von Omnia – Wytches‘ Brew. Es war das Lied mit dem ich die Band kennen gelernt habe und das mich letztendlich von Omnia überzeugt hat.

Wolf Love

2010 erhielt ich das lang ersehnte nächste Omnia Album Wolf Love. Auch hier erhält man wieder eine wilde Mischung aus verrückten Liedern (Toys In The Attic), nachdenklichen Liedern (Wheel Of Time) viel PaganFolk UND Pagan-Rap mit Dance Until We Die.

Etwas untypisch ist dann auch Dance Until We Die mein Lieblingslied auf dieser CD geworden. Es zeigt einfach, dass Sprechgesang nicht immer schlecht sein muss und gerade mit echten Instrumenten durchaus gut klingen kann – außerdem hat es einen wahnsinnig Tollen Gesangspart von Jennifer :)

Musick and Poëtree

2011 wurde Musick and Poëtree veröffentlicht. Dieses Album ging leider etwas an mir vorbei und ich habe die Veröffentlich verpennt und mich leider erst deutlich nach Erscheinen des Albums mit diesem beschäftigt.

Ein wirklich tolles Lied ist für mich I Don’t Speak Human, aber wie bei allen anderen Omnia Alben ist es durchaus ratsam sich das komplette Album einmal anzuhören, da die einzelnen Lieder doch sehr abwechslungsreich sind und daher nach einem Song kein wirklich abschließendes Urteil über eine CD von Omnia gefällt werden sollte!

EARTH WARRIOR

2014 wurde das bisher letzte Omnia Album EARTH WARRIOR veröffentlicht. Auch hierauf wurde ich erst durch einen Live-Auftritt von Omnia gestoßen, fragt mich nicht wie ich auch diese Veröffentlichung übersehen konnte, wahrscheinlich ist 2014 zu viel anderes erschienen…

Auf diesem Album habe ich den Song Noodle The Poodle direkt ins Herz geschlossen. Er war live einfach der Hammer und erinnert mich von der Verrücktheit etwas an Wytches‘ Brew :D
Zwar ist das Lied meiner Meinung nach kein typischer PaganFolk Titel, aber in diese Richtung wird man auf Earth Warrior auch fündig keine Angst!

Alles in allem bietet Omnia wie ich finde ein breites Spektrum an Musik und dürfte daher auch je nach Lust und Laune ein passendes Lied für die Playlist parat haben. Ich freue mich sehr darauf was diese Band in den nächsten Jahren noch so zu bieten hat!

Live

Leider konnte ich Omnia bisher erst einmal Live sehen und zwar auf dem MPS in Speyer. Dieser Auftritt hat aber sehr viel Spaß gemacht und die Musik der Band kommt unglaublich gut rüber. Es ist einfach eine tolle Liveatmosphäre durch die teilweise ungewöhnlichen Instrumente und die gesamte Kombination – Omnia eben :)

Ich kann jedem der Musik in diese Richtung mag nur empfehlen sich Omnia mal live anzusehen!

Fazit

Um Omnia grob zu zitieren: „Musik mit echten Instrumenten für echte Menschen!“ ist was man bei Omnia erhält. Dies kann ich soweit unterstreichen. Wie die verschiedenen Instrumente bei Omnia zusammenspielen ist einfach toll. Man erhält je nach Lied eine fröhliche und mitreisende Melodie oder etwas ruhiges Gefühlvolles.

Gerade diese Vielfallt macht Omnia für mich aus. Sie spielen nicht – wie manch Mittelalterband – in jedem Lied das immer gleich klingende Gedudel (ich mag Mittelalterbands aber mal ehrlich, ein ganzes Album macht einen schon etwas wirr im Schädel?), sondern variieren ihren Stil. Von PaganFolk Gedudel über ruhige Passagen usw…
Zudem sind die Texte einfach gut gemacht!

Zusammenfassend kann ich über Omnia nichts Schlechtes sagen. Ich mag sie sehr gerne und kann jedem nur empfehlen sich mal mit der Band näher zu beschäftigen, auch wenn vielleicht das ein oder andere Lied nicht direkt den eigenen Geschmack trifft ;)
